Sale of Pipex in the pipeline?
Posted 13th March 2007 at 12:07pm by Alex Buttle
Pipex has been quick to respond to media speculation over the continuing rumour that the ISP is to be taken over.
Pipex have stated that they have appointed an asset management company and the investment bank UBS to show Pipex the options they have in the future. However Pipex have confirmed that although this consultation is taking place it does not necessarily indicate that Pipex will be sold.
A statement issued yesterday said ‘Pipex confirms that it has appointed UBS to investigate a number of strategic options, which could include a sale of the Company… this process is at a very early stage and there can be no certainty that a transaction will result…’
This news is bound to alert a number of companies including Sky, BT and Carphone Warehouse all eyeing up the possible prey. This news comes shortly after Pipex bought out Freedom 2 Surf for £10 million in October 2005 and it seems the little fish are being eaten up by the larger fish
