Broadband customers offered advice to speed up their connections

Sluggish broadband speeds are a major frustration for many consumers, but new advice reveals how they can get the most from their bandwidth.
According to whatpc.co.uk, it is relatively easy to identify issues with cable broadband connections, although ADSL broadband lines can be more problematic.
The website highlighted routers, wiring in the home, the local telephone exchange and internet service providers as the most likely causes of problems with a broadband connection.
Ensuring that you have high-quality phone wiring in your house and installing the latest modem or router firmware can greatly improve speeds.
What's more, disconnecting 'ring' or 'bell' wires from phone systems by removing them at the master socket can help to ensure a more consistent connection by preventing them from picking up interference from other home devices.
"One area that is easy to overlook when diagnosing broadband problems is the computer itself. In particular, check the way the computer connects to the broadband modem or router," whatpc.co.uk added.
While simple fixes can help improve broadband connections, a survey conducted by ispreview.co.uk this month indicated that 55 per cent of consumers would also be willing to pay more for faster speeds.

I moved and upgraded to ADSL2+ two weeks ago with Idnet. My download speed has dropped and start up time has doubled!
