New customers attracted to TalkTalk broadband deals

More than 47,000 new customers took up broadband subscriptions with internet service provider (ISP) TalkTalk in the first fiscal quarter.
That is according to the latest trading update from the broadband supplier's owner Carphone Warehouse, which also operates AOL UK and Opal.
Released on July 27th, the fiscal report indicated that three per cent annual growth in new broadband subscriptions was enough to bring the ISP's total customer base to 2.85 million.
That figure does not include the influx of new broadband customers that Carphone Warehouse received following its £236 million acquisition of Tiscali UK, which has boosted it to number one in terms of UK marketshare.
Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive of the company, said: "We now have 79 per cent of all our broadband customers on our unbundled network, leveraging the superior economics that it gives us."
Last week, TalkTalk unveiled a series of concept broadband routers designed by students at Goldsmiths, University of London.
