PlusNet: Murray mania sets iPlayer usage record
Posted 2nd July 2009 at 11:57am by Jonathan Leggett
Today, the broadband provider has announced to ISP review that usage of the iPlayer hit 1.81Gbps on Monday. That’s over 25 per cent of its network’s capacity and is the highest proportion yet recorded by PlusNet. The cause? Well, that would be the titanic battle between Andy Murray and Juan Carlos Ferrero.

What the ISP doesn’t tell us is what happened when the game ended and the BBC collared the cheerless, charmless Murray for a post-match chat. As he mumbled his way through another interview with all the joi de vivre of laughing boy Leonard Cohen, we’d bet our Adidas Stan Smiths that another record was set for the fastest slump in iPlayer usage.
