PlusNet sees surge in iPlayer broadband traffic

PlusNet witnessed a surge in BBC iPlayer broadband traffic during Andy Murray's latest performance at Wimbledon, it has been reported.
According to ISP Review, Murray Mania continues to grow as the Scot progresses through the competition.
During his quarter-final victory against Juan Carlos Ferrero on July 1st, PluNet saw iPlayer usage reach 1.8Gb of bandwidth, approximately 25 per cent of its total network capacity.
The website reported that Murray smashed his previous PlusNet broadband traffic record of 1.66Gb, which was recorded on Monday during his fourth-round clash with Stanislas Wawrinka.
With the long wait since a Brit managed to win the Wimbledon Men's Singles event stretching back to 1936, PlusNet could see iPlayer broadband traffic exceed 2Gb during Murray's semi-final appearance against Andy Roddick tomorrow (July 3rd).
Last month, meanwhile, the ISP announced that it is to take part in a fibre-to-the-cabinet broadband trial being run by BT Wholesale.
