Virgin Media broadband problems in Leeds
Posted 15th September 2009 at 11:32am by Kimberley Howson
Some Virgin Media broadband customers in Leeds have been experiencing problems with their services.
Customers in the West Yorkshire region were missing certain parts of the broadband service yesterday (September 14th) following a problem with routing issues, reports the Register.
Virgin Media is now investigating the problems, which started early in the morning and left customers without their broadband, TV, or telephone services from the firm.
The company told the website a routing issue was "affecting some customers trying to visit certain US websites such as facebook.com".
Virgin Media added it "is working as a high priority to identify the affected sites and implementing workarounds to re-route traffic wherever possible".
The broadband provider recently had engineers investigate an email blackout, which left customers with only intermittent access to emails between Monday August 24th and Thursday August 27th.

This is worse than dial up! It's so slow all of the time. My connection is supposed to be 10mb, but speed test only ever returns results of around 500k. Completely unusable these days for video streaming.

I'll be switching to another company very soon, as this is ridiculous. I'm in Leeds by the way. I reckon they have over subscribed all of the students here, which has put a massive strain on the network.

I'm in LS4 and the service is an utter shambles. I've lost count of the number of times their bovine staff have told me that the problem's being sorted. Asking for a refund is usually met with the hilarious response: "You're getting some connectivity, so we can't give you anything".

In my opinion this is basically theft. -

Same problem as Howard. Im in LS4 and since Christmas from 4pm to 12pm, I get dial-up speed. It's a joke! Does anyone know if it's worth going with a different provider?
