Broadband provider TalkTalk has announced that a residential customer has become its first to sign up to Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) services.
The company is offering subscribers the chance to enjoy high-speed connectivity as it trials BT's new fibre-optic broadband services, which offer connections of up to 40Mb.
According to ISPreview.co.uk, a graph released by TalkTalk has shown that the speeds available through the network are significantly higher than its standard service.
Trials of the services in both London and Cardiff are set to run until the start of next year, while participants are given access to a new router and modem to ensure they can enjoy the higher speeds.
Homeowners also get their Essentials phone and broadband package free for the length of the assessment.
Earlier this year, TalkTalk become the UK's largest residential broadband provider after it successfully acquired Tiscali in a deal worth an estimated £236 million.
