O2 has launched a mobile broadband offer for existing and new prepay customers in Ireland.

Consumers can pay for and access mobile broadband on a daily or monthly basis, with tariffs starting at €3.99 (£3.59) for a 24-hour 500MB pass.

According to the broadband provider, the new service offers pay as you go customers "a viable alternative" to fixed broadband, providing a fast and easy way for them to get web and email access at home, in the office or on the move.

Dongles are available from €69 (£62.43).

Anthony O'Neill, Head of Marketing Strategy at Telefonica O2 Ireland, said O2 Prepay Broadband is "a welcome addition" to the firm's "already extensive broadband portfolio".

He added: "We are confident that our great value offer, combined with our dedicated broadband customer care team and our high speed network, will prove extremely popular with existing and new prepay customers."

Last week, a new range of mobile broadband and laptop bundles was launched by O2 in the UK.
