Customers 'happy with current broadband'

A lack of pent up demand for next-generation broadband could impact upon how the technology is rolled out, it has been suggested.
Speaking at the Westminster eForum keynote seminar The Future of Broadband in the UK, Forrester Research principal analyst Ian Fogg claimed that the majority of consumers are satisfied with their current web connections.
As a result, he stressed that the industry is in a different position to when original dial-up connections were replaced by first-generation broadband.
Mr Fogg explained that at this point, consumers were demanding an improvement to the delivery of internet services, but in the majority of cases at present, satisfaction levels are already high.
"That has implications for what will happen in terms of adoption of next-generation broadband - how do these networks roll-out?" he said.
"It has implications for the business case for next-generation broadband as well."
Earlier this week, broadband provider PlusNet vowed to improve its connection speeds and performance quality following a number of recent service difficulties.
