Sky adds over 100,000 broadband subscribers
Posted 28th January 2010 at 2:57pm by Kimberley Howson
Broadband provider Sky has revealed that over 100,000 people took up its internet services in the final three months of last year.
The company's latest trading update has highlighted that 101,000 people took up its broadband packages over the period, which helped to boost its overall internet customer base to over 2.4 million.
In addition, Sky revealed that its consumer base for Sky+HD has surpassed two million households, while almost one in five of its subscribers take bundles featuring digital TV, broadband and home phone services.
Discussing the figures, Sky Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch said: "It has been another good quarter in what remains a tough environment, with more customers joining Sky and strong demand across our entire product range."
He added that Sky+HD provided the "standout performance" of all its products over the quarter.
The release of the figures has come as the company also confirmed its 3D digital TV channel will be launched in April.

When Sky boosted all the rest of their customers they discriminated against their base customers. They should hang their heads in shame for that.

When the average speed on broadband is going to be 10Mb by the end of 2010/early 2011, they should supply all their existing customers with hd boxes for free as a sign of goodwill.
