Tiscali closes to new customers as TalkTalk completes takeover
Posted 7th January 2010 at 3:17pm by Kimberley Howson
TalkTalk has confirmed that Tiscali no longer exists from today (January 7th), as it begins to rebrand its acquisition's operations.
From now on, the broadband and digital TV provider's services will all be placed under the banner of TalkTalk, as Carphone Warehouse completes its £236 million takeover of the company.
The move means that Tiscali in its current form is no longer accepting new customers.
Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive Officer of the Carphone Warehouse, said the changes meant "much more than just having a different logo on the top of your bill".
He added: "For that reason we've reviewed all of the pricing tariffs and can say from today that if you're with TalkTalk you're getting the same value as your fellow customers."
TalkTalk's deal to acquire Tiscali was originally confirmed at the start of May last year and made the broadband company the largest residential provider in the UK.
