A list of recommendations on how the government should approach its broadband policies has been published by the Internet Service Providers' Association (ISPA).

The industry organisation has made eight key recommendations which it hopes that parliament will consider once MPs return from their summer recess in September.

Among the measures outlined by the ISPA are calls for the government to coordinate its internet policies across departments to ensure a "cohesive and informed approach" is taken in relation to it.

Other recommendations include the creation of a clear regulatory environment to ensure everyone has access to faster broadband, as well as a review of the current treatment of dark fibre systems.

The ISPA added that the measures were designed to create "a digital economy where users are able to access high-speed broadband and where no one is digitally excluded".

Established in 1995, the ISPA is the trade association for the UK's internet industry and promotes both competition and self-regulation within the sector.
