Broadband availability

ADSL broadband

Most home broadband packages require an active BT landline in order to operate. This type of broadband is called ADSL broadband. If you have an active BT line, you can either choose broadband packages that offer standard ADSL broadband as offered by the majority of providers or ADSL2 as offered by Be and O2 (if available in your area). Alternatively, you can switch your BT landline to your new ISP's landline service and get inclusive calls as offered in broadband packages by TalkTalk, Tiscali and Orange among others.

Cable broadband is similar to ADSL broadband except that it enters the home via cables laid down in the road as opposed to telephone lines. Cable broadband is faster on average than ADSL broadband and comes in speeds of up to 50Mb.
