Information Collected from You

Uses Made of the Information Collected from You
We use information held about you in the following ways:

- to provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes;
- to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us;

Traffic and Clickstream Data
Data about traffic and usage is not personally identifying or identifiable, and is not supplemented or combined with personally identifying or identifiable information.
This website collects some information regarding the use of Top10.com by observing browser functions and the files (pages) users’ access, in order to police fraudulent activities and any other irregularities. Aggregate information will be used in order to continually improve our website and service.
Cookies
We may store information about you using cookies (files which are sent by us to your computer or other access device) which we can access when you visit our website in the future. We do this to learn about repeat visitors and to find out if we are delivering quality products and services therefore improving our service further.

Data collected from you for the Top 10 Broadband Speed Test
We will collect the following data from you where you take a Top 10 Broadband Speed Test:
- postcode or location data you manually enter;
- the time and date you visited our website;
- your IP address (which is automatically collected from your browser);
- the type of web browser you are using (automatically detected);
- the hostname and/or broadbrand provider you enter; and
- the rating you give for your broadband provider when you enter your details
We use the data collected from you when you take a Top 10 Broadband Speed Test for the following purposes:
- performing a look-up on a third party broadband availability service or ‘postcode checker’ to query your connection details including your phone exchange and the type of broadband connections available in your area;
- using your IP and/or postcode details, to geo-code your approximate location using the Google Maps API and to present a pin with the broadband provider you entered and the broadband speed we recorded on your local Google Map;
- presenting the data collected on our broadband StreetStats maps and aggregating results (yours included) on our graphs and using your data (in conjunction with others) to work out average speeds for our users at a local and national level.
We will store all of the data we collect for the purposes of the Top 10 Broadband Speed Test in a database on our servers.
Removing yourself from our StreetStats maps and database:
We can remove you from our StreetStats maps and from our database if requested. To make this request, please email us at info@top10.com.
How to remove yourself from our StreetStats maps immediately after your Top 10 Broadband Speed Test:
After you have completed your Top 10 Broadband Speed Test, immediately click ‘StreetStats’ (top right), then click ‘Remove yourself from this map’ (bottom right). You will then be permanently removed from all our StreetStats maps, however we will still hold the data we collected from you for the purposes of the Top 10 Broadband Speed Test.
Removing your data from our Top 10 Broadband Speed Test and database at a later date:
If you never wish to be displayed on our StreetStats maps or compiled within our aggregated speeds, you can be permanently removed from our database. To remove yourself, please contact us stating your postcode, broadband provider and date of speed test and we will remove you within 3 working days. You can contact us here
Visitors under the Age of 16
We do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information online from a child under 16 since our website is not directed at children. Any users under 16 must get approval from a parent/guardian prior to submitting information. Users without consent are not allowed to provide us with information.
Security of Personal Data
We shall take measures to avoid improper use, modification, loss, processing or unauthorised access or theft of your personal data by third parties.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we fully intend to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our website; any transmission is at your own risk.
Disclosure of your Personal Information
We will not sell or give your personally identifiable information to others except as provided in this privacy policy.
We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.
We may disclose your personal information to third parties:
- in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

Email policy (when any email is submitted via our forms)
We may keep you updated with our own Top10 offers and related information via email. We will never sell your details to third parties and will not send you 'spam' emails. You will have the option to unsubscribe from our email lists at any time.
Policy Changes
Due to the rapidly evolving technologies and capabilities on the internet our privacy policy may change over time. Any changes made to our privacy policy will be notified on our website and data taken before the changes will not be affected without your individual permission.
