Nokia has recently been busy promoting Symbian^3, but it is clearly thinking two steps ahead after demonstrating a few ideas that it has for Symbian^4 via officially sanctioned YouTube videos.

On the surface there seems to be only a few differences between the interface of Symbian^4 and what Symbian^3 will offer when it makes it to market.

However, since Nokia is implementing some much-needed improvements with the soon-to-come iteration, it looks as though ^4 could be a minor adjustment rather than a total overhaul.

Symbian^4 looks to offer both user friendliness and operational speed and these are likely to be further honed between the release of ^3 and ^4.

The installed market for Symbian is huge, despite the flaws of its current iteration and investing in the future of the platform is something that make sense for Nokia.

What remains to be seen is how Nokia will choose to implement Symbian^3 and 4 and whether the hardware that it pairs with the platform will allow the new OS to shine.

Erm, is that it? It's like a spot the difference contest with Symbian 3.
