I am sure this game is designed to bring out the worst in people. So why is it number one in my list, well because that is why I love it so much. When in life can you bankrupt your mum or force you sister to beg for mercy and it all ends up ok in the end. I love it so much because it lets you take control and do things you would never be able to do it real life, unless of course you are a billionaire tycoon in which case you probably do this sort of thing every day. If you have never played this game then you should be warned that it can take hours to play depending on the skill of the other players, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This game is for the wannabe Inspector Cluesos, or Jack Frosts out there. It is a game of logic, you have to solve a murder by witling down the suspects. The game is best with four or more players as I find if there are any less it becomes too easy. All that is left to say is I think it was Mrs White, in the Library with the rope... sorry couldn’t resist.

While I was growing up I would see people play this game and be fascinated by it. I never knew how to play it myself and it was always something I wanted to learn. It wasn’t until I was 17 that I finally played my first game of Chess and I was rubbish. Over time I learnt little tactics and now I really love playing it and although I am no pro I think I am quite good. You have to be very strategic to play this with any success and think many moves ahead, but it really is a lot of fun when you get in to it and for that reason is number three in my list

This is one of those games that is a classic and generations after generations will play it. I have never really truly understood how the scoring works but I tend to just make up my own rules and it works for me. As well as this game being fun it helps broaden your vocabulary, and helps children to learn. I don’t think it is the best game out there but certainly worth a place in my top ten

Now how could I not put this game on my list, it is one of my favourites and I am sure I am not alone in thinking it is one of the best loved games across the world. One reason I love it so much is because the numbers of players is infinite as you just get together in teams, so if you have the entire family round you can all play unlike most games where there is usually a limit of 4 players. The questions are very hard but that is a good thing, it would get boring if everyone knew every answer, the game would be over in seconds. I love that they have brought out other editions of this too so you can have questions suited to a subject you like. This game deserves to be second in my list

Growing up I always thought this game soundly a bit like it was meant for men so I never played it. It was only when I was 20 that I was dragged in to playing and I can’t believe how much I enjoyed it. It is so much fun trying to sink the other player’s ships before they get a chance to sink yours. I can tell you I was wrong, this game is suitable to everyone and now I have 20 years of catching up to do.

I love this game as it has the complete opposite goal to all other board games of this type. The aim is to loose and that means you have won. What I mean is, you start with a million pounds and you have to do everything you can to spend it, once you have lost all the money you have then won the game. It is quite odd as I always feel like I will get down to zero and then someone will jump out and say ‘ha ha I can’t believe you fell for that’. I can happily confirm that has never happened so you are just going to have to except this topsy turvy game how it is and enjoy it.

There is always that one person in your family who doesn’t like to play board games and would much rather sit in their armchair and watch telly. Well this board game is the answer. Although based around a board it also has an interactive DVD element to it. Now I don’t normally like DVD games but this incorporates well into the board game and I have to say works brilliantly. I can’t count the number of times I have played this and it never gets boring, and although it is only about movies they have brought out special editions like Friends and Harry Potter. Definitely one for all the family
