A list of the ten best apps available for the iPad

  1. Netflix

    Netflix

I think with the iPad’s incredibly high resolution HD screen watching movies and TV on the move has never been so good. Netflix, once you’ve joined, can bring you thousands of movies and television shows over a Wi-Fi connection for you to enjoy in the palm of your hand. Choice, quality and convenience come together in the Netflix app and the iPad for a true on-the-move movie experience.

  2. F1 2009

    F1 2009

With the iPad comics come alive in my opinion. The colour and detail of the artwork is vivid, clear and accessible and makes taking comics and graphic novels on the move with you a lot easier and a lot cooler! Marvel Comics’ app is proof that the print industry is finally catching up with the digital age and all the better for it.

  4. Tap Tap Revenge 3

    Tap Tap Revenge 3

Tap Tap Revenge is not only the most intuitive and best designed guitar hero style game that has been made for iPad but it is also one of the most addictive. I think Tap Tap games have been so successful because they bring together gaming and music into such a fun and challenging environment. Personally Tap Tap is the game I have played more than any other app.

  5. The Wall Street Journal

    The Wall Street Journal

One of the iPad’s biggest selling points is the digital platform, a revolutionary one I would argue, for consuming print media. The Wall Street Journal app brings crisp, clear news to your fingertips in a digital newspaper for absolutely nothing – It’s free! Clever touch controls make it like reading a newspaper flicking backing and forth through the newspaper. It is also environmentally minded with no paper waste once you’re done.

  6. Super Monkey Ball

    Super Monkey Ball

Using the iPad’s highly responsive motion technology Super Monkey Ball is one of the most challenging and addictive games on the iPad I think. The visuals are stunning and colourful and the game itself features so many levels it will take you weeks to complete.

  7. Angry Birds HD

    Angry Birds HD

For a couple of quid I really don’t think you can get a better iPad app game deal. It is a simple yet fun and strategic game. Much like the brilliant ‘Crush the Castle’, Angry Birds similarly challenges the player to destroy the target in a certain amount of attempts. The progression in difficulty is also very good, starting with easy and getting harder as you go along.

  8. SoundHound

    SoundHound

SoundHound is finally the intuitive, genius music recognition and information app I’ve been waiting for. It can identify a song playing or a song your singing or humming yourself! It can also bring up the lyrics to your song, fantastic for all those times your not sure what the artist sang, and charts information to boot.

  9. National Geographic World Atlas 3D

    National Geographic World Atlas 3D

A wealth of knowledge about the world in glorious high definition images, maps and photographs is something I think every iPad owner should have. Learning about the world on the move can pass lots of time, more than most games in fact, and at such a low price it is well worth downloading.

  10. Wikipanion

    Wikipanion

I’ve been using Wikipanion on my iPhone for a few years now and let me just say that it has helped me win more than my fair share of pub quizzes! Whilst an iPad might not be concealable enough for that, this is the app that should really come as standard on the iPad. Millions of articles of information at your finger tips for quick reference or in-depth reading for free can’t be bad.
