  1. Angry Birds

    Angry Birds

What is there not to like? Birds, anger and a lot of mayhem! If you have never played Angry Birds for the iPhone, you are just insane. The addictive gameplay sets birds against pigs in an epic swine-flu inspired battleground to save the bird eggs. It has a vast amount of epic levels and its replay value is extremely high. My girlfriend hates that I cannot put this game down; however, I’m still not even close to beating my friend’s high score. I can’t wait for Angry Birds 2!

  2. Cut The Rope

    Cut The Rope

Speaking of simple games, this one might well drive you mad - but its simplicity is its appeal. All you have to do is cut a series of ropes in order to feed candy to a cute monster. Sounds simple, right? Well be warned, it's not nearly as easy as it looks.

  3. Flight Control

    Flight Control

What I adore about Flight Control is the freedom that it gives you by letting you draw your own flight path. At first, it leads you into a false sense of security; making you think that it’s a fairly easy game but as the levels progress it gets extremely harder to control your plane and becomes extremely addictive. My friend has completed all of the levels with record time; unfortunately I am still struggling on the Navy level.

  4. Tiny Wings

    Tiny Wings

Built by one man - Andreas Illiger - Tiny Wings is a huge bundle of fun. The simplest of game mechanics yield a surprising amount of playability as you guide our hero through some beautiful landscapes. This is not only a wonderful app, but also a testament to the ability of many indie game developers out there.

  5. Tetris

    Tetris

This game has always been one of my favorites. Fit the blocks to make a line. Challenging but fun and even better on an iPhone!

  6. Bejeweled 2

    Bejeweled 2

Whoever isn’t a fan of bejeweled has not played it on the iPhone yet! Move up in levels as you solve the gem-swapping puzzles. One of my long time favorites!

  7. Doodle Jump

    Doodle Jump

This $1.00 game is an absolute classic. If you have an iPhone, you need to have this app. It's that simple. Move the iPhone around to guide your jumper up the screen from platform to platform. Sounds easy, right? Where the challenge comes in are the different types of platforms, moving obstacles, and even black holes. Yes. Black holes.

  8. Assassin's Creed: Altair Chronicles

    Assassin's Creed: Altair Chronicles

Usually, I’m very wary about mobile ports of popular games. However, Assassin’s Creed: Altair Chronicles is a very entertaining and attractive game. The graphics are amazing and it really wouldn’t cross your mind that you are playing it on an iPhone. Although, the gameplay is no way near its console platform version, the replay value makes this game worth the app download. You would be crazy not to try Assassin’s Creed for the iPhone.

  9. Fruit Ninja

    Fruit Ninja

This little app is probably the most fun a person can legally have mutilating fruit with a (pretend) katana. Basically, images of fruit are chucked across the screen and the ninja (you) need to slash it into pieces before it reaches the other side of the display. Simple, addicting, and therapeutic for under $1? Epic win!
