Loosely based upon the Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali film 'Un Chien Andalou', the name of the track makes reference to the point that the film debases morality and standards of art. Originally part of the 1989 album 'Doolittle', the song wasn't released as a single until


A song dealing with environmentalism, destruction of the oceans and question our place in the universe, this track was taken from the 1989 album 'Doolittle'. The first single to be release from the album, it hit number 5 on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart and spent three weeks in the UK Top 100.

Written and recorded for the bands demo tape, it wasn't until 1989 that it appeared as a single release and an album track. The unusual video is recorded through a fish eye lens with the band opening and shutting their mouths without actually lip-syncing the words.


Taken from their first studio album 'Surfer Rosa', this track was their first single release and maintains a cult status amongst the fans. Inspired by the film 'Crimes of the Heart', the song is about a married woman who falls in love with a black teenager.


I don't know how anyone can prefer the UK Surf version but I digress. Even for the Pixies, these lyrics are strange. Such wonderful nonsense.

The bands first UK Top 40 hit, this song was taken from the album 'Bossanova'. A cheap promotional video was filmed, with slowed down footage of the band in a quarry, wearing jeans and t-shirts, walking towards the camera, which was fine in 1990. Today they would need to be wearing Hi-Vis jackets and hard hats to satisfy Health & Safety.


A tribute to French engineer Alexndre Gustave Eiffel, this track was released in 1991 and taken fro the album 'Trompe le Monde'. Monseuir Eiffle is best known for his Parisian tower, he also design the Statue of Liberty and one of the first wide tunnels.
