How BLK Works
Signup Process
BLK is available on iTunes and Google Play. If you choose the paid subscription, be aware that simple account deletion will not cancel your subscription. You will have to backtrack to your original payment method to cancel any automatic payments.
You can register using your Facebook profile, Google sign-in, or phone number. If you choose to register through Facebook, your profile information will sync with the BLK app.
The completeness of many profiles is lacking. In the "about me" section, you will find the person’s name, age, occupation, school/company, what they are looking for, small factoids, short description (if they chose to provide one), and physical distance from your location.
The completion of the “about me” section is left up to you. You’re limited to 500 characters, although many choose to opt-out of this feature. It’s mandatory to upload a photo, and you’re allowed six photos.
Matchmaking & Search Functions
Matchmaking is up to the parameters set up by the platform (computerized algorithm). To increase the likelihood of getting matched, you can take advantage of the following free features (and like as many profiles as possible):
- Up to 50 Likes per day
- Unlimited free messaging between matches/responding promptly
- One Super Like per day
- Free profile/picture viewing
- Free registration/profile creation
With the premium version, you enjoy all of the free version’s features plus:
- One “boost” per month (profile highlighted for 30 minutes)
- Unlimited Likes
- Five Super Likes per day
- Removal of advertisements
Features & Communication Tools
Once you purchase a premium membership, you can view who likes you. Finding a match is easy and likely, given that within the first few moments of registering, the Likes start piling up. In the free version, you have 50 Likes per day, after which you cannot proceed without subscribing (or running out the clock). However, given that messaging between matches is unlimited (for both the free and the premium versions), you’re reasonably likely to find dates without having to pay.
You can use the Super Like feature once per day for each free profile (and five times per day in the premium version). The app will alert your potential match of your Super Like. You can modify your settings anytime to get different match suggestions based on age and distance.
The once-a-month “boost” feature (premium version) highlights your profile at the top of the search page for 30 minutes.
Safety & Security
Mandatory geographical location, as well as strict registration rules, reduce the possibility of scamming. However, you will come across fake profiles, so exercise caution.
In case of harassment, you can resort to blocking the offender. The block option is available when clicking on the three dots on the offender's profile. Alternatively, you can report any concerns to the moderator. The BLK team is responsive and takes all reports and safety concerns seriously.
Any violations of the BLK terms and conditions will have consequences, such as account suspension, no refund for paid members, and a lifetime ban.

BLK is straightforward, offering two plans: free and premium (paid). The premium version allows for one “boost” per month (a boost means that your profile is highlighted in the app for 30 minutes), unlimited Likes, five Super Likes per day (as the name suggests, a Super Like indicates that you would really, really like to make a connection) per day, and the removal of advertisements.
