Customer Service issue but great recovery
Make sure you reach this one to the end. I’ve been a customer for over 3 years and used beenverified’s contact pro to search by title and find contact information and email for possible candidates for my clients. Yesterday I noticed that I could not see any data when searching while using Contact Pro. After an hour with the online person (Jake D) without any resolution, I asked to speak with a supervisor. After a hour with Jake, I told him I needed to answer the other line for a couple minutes, when I got back Jake had closed the ticket. The second time I called instead of the chat and spent another 45 minuted without getting my issue resolved so I asked to speak to a supervisor. After being grilled as to why, I was finally transferred to a dial tone. I tried a third time and most of the conversation was the same as the first two times but in the middle she asked me why I was using Beenverified. I told her I was a recruiter and that I used contact pro to find people that are qualified for the jobs my clients need to fill. I told her I use it to find their phone numbers and emails so that I can connect with them to see if they are interested in a new job. After another 5-10 minutes of her asking repeat questions I just gave up and ended the conversation. The next thing I know, I get a message that my account has expired and that $58 has been returned to my account. I was confused with this and thought that perhaps I didnt sign up for auto renewal so I signed up again. This was when I noticed they had increased their price 25% and I would now pay $71. An hour or so later I got a message that my $71 was been returned and that now my access is under review. After going through it all it seems they think that my getting phone numbers and email address to contact candidates violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act. They are wrong, I’m not an employer, I’m not doing a background check and I’m not looking at bankruptcy or legal violations, I’m only looking at their title, phone and email. I sent back an explanation that I only use it to find contact information and that I do not use the background check for any of these searches. So what they’ve done is cancelled access and returned 2 payments to me (for a 3 year customer) when I am not doing anything that is on their published profited list. I’m not employment screening, tenant screening, hiring household workers, determining educational requirements, issuing credit, or business transactions initiated by individual customers, I’m just looking for contact information. Several hours later today I received another message from beenverified asking me if I would be OK and like to resubscribe if they disable the access to legal and bankruptcy info. I’m not sure which way I’ll go on this, if they cared one tiny bit about good customer service they would have mentioned this in the 2+ hours I spent on the chat and call getting absolutely zero help on my issue. So here’s the lesson, Beenverified Customer service is terrible and if you do question them about what they are doing, you’ll run the risk of being booted from the platform and money refunded. UPDATE: I received a message from their customer service organization apologizing for the inconvenience, letting me know that I was using the platform properly and that they would be reducing the cost for the next 3 months if I renew. I also received a message from the CEO letting me know that he stepped in immediately to get this fixed. We all make errors once in a while and this company/leadership team knows how to recover properly. Back being a big fan.
