Capital Shield Home Plans
Capital Shield Home offers three home warranty plans: Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Its Diamond Plan is the most comprehensive and includes coverage for every appliance and system available through Capital Shield Home. Plan exclusions
Except for limited roof leak protection, Capital Shield Home only covers internal appliances and systems. Roof leak protection comes standard with its Diamond Plan but may be individually added to its Gold or Platinum plans.
Your Capital Shield Home warranty contract will provide you with the annual coverage limit for each appliance and system in your plan. Annual coverage limits can vary, so you’ll need to speak with an agent to get a quote. Your contract also includes information about the types of repairs excluded from coverage.
Exclusions include damage caused by accidents, floods, fires, or other natural disasters, as well as routine maintenance, excluding HVAC maintenance with its Diamond Plan.
Capital Shield Home Plan Pricing
Compared to its competitors, Capital Shield Home’s pricing is remarkably affordable. In particular, I like that its Gold Plan includes basic appliance and systems coverage starting at just $40 per month. Many home warranty companies offer plans at that price, but typically these lower-cost plans cover either systems or appliances, not both. The Platinum Plan is also rather affordable at $50 per month, while the Diamond Plan is on the higher side at $80 per month.

Unlike some companies, Capital Shield Home does not let you customize your service fee. Instead, it charges a flat $75 fee for all service visits.
How to File a Claim with Capital Shield Home
You can file a claim online through Capital Shield Home’s website or over the phone with its customer service team. Capital Shield Home maintains a network of certified technicians within each state that it provides coverage. You can expect a service technician to visit your home within 48 hours of submitting your claim.
At the time of your service visit, you’ll need to pay the $75 service fee to cover parts and labor. Capital Shield Home provides a 90-day workmanship guarantee for parts and a 60-day guarantee for labor.
Is Capital Shield Home Legit?
Capital Shield Home appears legit based on the information I gathered from its website and conversations with its customer service team. One thing is that it is not yet accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Although this is not necessarily a cause for alarm, make sure you do substantial research before you sign a contract with Capital Shield Home or any other home warranty provider.
What’s Unique about Capital Shield Home?
Capital Shield Home is unique in that it offers both appliance and systems coverage in its most affordable plan. Many home warranty companies offer plans priced similarly to Capital Shield Home’s Gold Plan, but most of these plans only cover appliances or systems, not both.
At this time, Capital Shield Home is offering an introductory offer to new customers. New customers can earn up to $150 off any plan. Additionally, if you choose its Gold or Platinum plan, you can get free limited roof coverage for one year.
Help and Support
You can contact Capital Shield Home’s customer service team by phone from 9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday. While it does not offer 24/7 phone support, you can submit a claim anytime through its website or call and leave a message outside business hours. Upon receiving your claim, Capital Shield Home will connect you with a service technician within 48 hours.
Capital Shield Home features a limited FAQ page on its website, as well as articles about home maintenance.
What about the Capital Shield Home App?
Presently, Capital Shield Home does not have an app.

Capital Shield Home vs Choice Home Warranty
Capital Shield Home features competitive pricing compared with Choice Home Warranty. Both offer affordable basic warranty options that cover your home’s major appliances and systems. Choice Home Warranty may charge more for service visits, as its fees can range from $75 to $85, while Capital Shield Home charges a flat fee of $75.
That said, Choice Home Warranty offers coverage in more states than Capital Shield Home. Additionally, unlike Capital Shield Home, Choice Home Warranty offers 24/7 phone support and has an established track record.
Capital Shield Home vs Select Home Warranty
In terms of price, Capital Shield Home offers more affordable basic coverage than Select Home Warranty. Its Gold Plan covers your home's major appliances and systems, while Select Home Warranty’s comparably priced plans only cover either appliances or systems, not both.
However, Select Home Warranty provides 24/7 phone support for claims, while Capital Shield Home does not. Moreover, Select Home Warranty offers coverage in states not currently supported by Capital Shield Home.
Capital Shield Home vs American Home Shield
Capital Shield Home’s basic plans surpasses American Home Shield’s basic coverage options when it comes to affordability. Its Gold Plan covers your home’s major appliances and systems. Meanwhile, American Home Shield’s similarly priced plans cover either basic appliances or systems but not both.
American Home Shield beats Capital Shield Home when it comes to claims support. Unlike American Home Shield, Capital Shield Home does not offer 24/7 claims support over the phone. Additionally, American Home Shield works with a much larger network of certified technicians and offers coverage in more states.
The Bottom Line
Capital Shield Home offers affordable appliances and systems home warranty coverage in six states. It enables you to customize your plan or choose from one of its three standard plans. It charges a flat fee of $75 for service visits, so you’ll always know what you can expect to pay for coverage.
Although it lacks 24/7 claims support over the phone, I appreciate that Capital Shield Home accepts claim requests through its website. Capital Shield Home only works with local, certified technicians and schedules service visits within 48 hours of receiving your claim.
