Cura Home Warranty provides warranty cover for single-family homes, townhouses, condos, and mobile homes in 35 states across the country. It protects various home systems and appliances, like your heating system, air conditioner, fridge, or oven, so you don’t have to pay thousands out of pocket to repair them if they fail due to old age or regular wear and tear.
Unfortunately, a problem with many home warranty plans is that you can end up paying for coverage you don’t need. Cura Home Warranty, however, is unique in not having designated plans. Instead, it gives you full flexibility and control to create your own, with standard and enhanced coverage limits to choose from.

There are six coverage blocks (detailed below) that you can select to build your own personalized home warranty. You need to choose a minimum of two blocks (three if you have a single-family home) or can choose all of them if you want comprehensive coverage.

Is Cura Home Warranty Safe and Reliable?
I feel Cura is a reliable company that is safe to work with. Its contracts are easy to understand, and the company is very transparent about its coverage.
In addition, the website uses SSL encryption to secure your connection, and the company takes administrative, technical, and physical steps to protect the information you provide. Cura is also very open about what information it collects, and how it uses and shares it.
How Cura Home Warranty Works
Once you have a home warranty plan with Cura, you can submit a service request over the phone. You’ll need to answer a few questions about the system or appliance, such as the issue you’re experiencing and the make/model.
Cura will let you know whether or not it’s covered and can help you identify the type of service provider you may need. If the request is covered, the company will authorize you to reach out to a contractor of your choosing to do the repairs.
You can get an advance payment if you give Cura a formal estimate from the provider before the work commences. Alternatively, you can request reimbursement when the work is complete by providing the company with an invoice. Once Cura has approved the invoice, you’ll receive the funds.
How To Get Started With Cura Home Warranty
Click “Build Your Plan” on the upper right-hand side of the Cura website to get started. You’ll need to provide some information on whether you’re a homeowner or a real estate professional and the type, size, and location of the property.
Next, you'll receive your coverage options. You’re free to choose your copay (which is your service call fee), the coverage blocks you want, and the coverage limits you prefer.
There’s a helpful plan profile and payment summary on the right-hand side of the screen that will break everything down for you and show your monthly or annual costs. Once you’re happy with your selections, you can decide whether to purchase the plan, generate a quote for future reference, or even create an invoice if you want to include the warranty in a home closing statement.
If you do decide to buy, you'll need to provide the address of the home, as well as some personal information like your name, phone number, and email address. Lastly, you supply your credit card details to make your purchase, and you’re done. You can also purchase your home warranty over the phone.
I appreciate how easy the entire process is and the way Cura lays everything out clearly. It didn’t take more than a few minutes to get through the entire process.
Cura Home Warranty Customer Service
Customer support from Cura is available over the phone at 833-993-CURA(2872). Operating hours are 8 am-8 pm (ET) on Monday-Friday and 9 am-4 pm (ET) on Saturdays and Sundays. I called and was able to get through in seconds.
If you need to reach the company outside these hours or don’t want to talk on the phone, you can send an email to support@curahome.com or send a message via the website. Response times may vary, but I was able to get a reply to my email in less than an hour.

How To Cancel or Pause a Cura Home Warranty Contract
You can cancel your contract by sending a request to support@curahome.com. Because the contract has a 30-day waiting period, you can cancel at any time up to the 30th day for a full refund. If you cancel your contract after that, you’ll receive a prorated refund.

How Much Does Cura Home Warranty Cost?
A home warranty from Cura costs from $324 to around $2,000 (including pool add-on) each year, depending on the number of coverage blocks you add to your plan. If you select the enhanced coverage limits to minimize your out-of-pocket costs, you’ll have larger premiums.
I think this model is a good way to ensure you’re only paying for what you want and won’t end up paying for coverage that doesn’t fit your home or lifestyle. Here’s a look at the individual price ranges of the coverage blocks.

The exact price of each block (and thus your quote as a whole) depends on your service call fee, coverage limits, and property type, size, and location. Costs can be below the industry average if you have modest needs. However, if you wanted all six coverage blocks with enhanced limits in a 6,000-square-foot home, you could find it to be well above the average price.
Optional add-ons
In addition to the six main coverage blocks, Cura offers a pool and spa block for your freshwater or saltwater pool. It covers the heating, pumping, lighting, and filtration. The annual cost will be between $160 and $550.

Cura Home Warranty vs Choice Home Warranty
Both Cura Home Warranty and Choice Home Warranty have more affordable service call fees than many other companies in the industry. However, Cura is cheaper on the low end, and Choice is cheaper on the high end. Cura only lets you make service requests over the phone during specific times of the day, but lets you choose your own contractor—unlike Choice.
Cura Home Warranty vs American Home Shield
Unlike Cura Home Warranty, American Home Shield offers 24/7 service requests. However, Cura has more affordable premiums on the low end. American Home Shield has a large network of 17,000 contractors, but if you prefer the flexibility of choosing your own contractor, Cura might be the better option.
Cura Home Warranty vs Home Warranty of America
While Cura Home Warranty lets you choose the service provider you work with, Home Warranty of America provides its own contractors. Cura also offers more flexible coverage and a lower service call fee. However, it can be more expensive at the high end and doesn’t let you make service requests 24/7.
Bottom Line (Is Cura Home Warranty Worth It?)
I believe Cura Home Warranty is a provider worth considering. While it can be expensive if you have a large home or want comprehensive coverage, the coverage blocks are a unique offering in the industry. You can cover exactly what you want instead of paying for coverage you don’t need.
It would be nice if you could submit claims online or 24/7 over the phone, but I like having the ability to choose my own contractor—and the process of getting started is as straightforward as possible. Cura’s transparency regarding its coverage and rates is also commendable.
