Monitoring Services
LutiBand’s monitoring services are intuitive and effective. If you have an emergency, all you have to do is press and hold the button on your LutiBand smartwatch, which will initiate a two-way phone call to emergency services. If you suffer a fall and are unable to press the button yourself, LutiBand’s automatic fall detection can place the call for you.
As soon as the call connects, your previously-stored information is transmitted from your smartwatch to 911, providing them with your location, your personal and medical history, your emergency contacts, and your current biometric information, such as blood pressure and heart rate. This information is also displayed prominently on the smartwatch itself, so first responders can see it and react accordingly.
These monitoring services are provided by RapidSOS, which covers over 90% of the U.S. population. One impressive advantage of LutiBand/RapidSOS is that these services are also available in over 100 other countries, which means that you’re protected no matter where you travel.
Product Features
LutiBand is a high-tech smartwatch that doesn’t stop at providing a one-button way to call for help if you need it. The brand packs a lot of features into a fashionable, lightweight (1.55-ounce) smartwatch.
Like other medical alert systems we have reviewed, it allows you to call for help immediately, wherever you are; however, unlike other systems, this range includes over 100 countries other than the US. During emergencies, LutiBand offers two-way voice communication with the monitoring team, but note that you can’t communicate with caregivers or loved ones through it.
The device also measures and stores your personal health and medical information, which it can provide to both you and to emergency responders. Its biometric sensors detect your current body temperature, your blood pressure and heart rate, and your blood oxygen levels.
If you’re interested in fitness, LutiBand can track the number of steps you’ve taken per day/week/month and how far you’ve traveled. It also supports automatic fall detection so that the watch can call for help by itself if you are unable to push its button.
The watch comes pre-installed with an international 4G LTE SIM card. This means that it works anywhere and doesn’t require a connection to a base station or a smartphone to work. It comes with two silicone straps (small and large), a long-lasting battery, a portable charger, and a security clasp to keep the watch from accidentally falling off. Naturally, it’s waterproof, so you can wear it in the shower.
The appearance of the watch face is customizable, allowing you to choose a number of different options, from high-tech digital to more conventional analog displays, in a number of different colors. Additional bands are available in different colors for $14.95 each.
LutiBand also has a free mobile app for Apple and Android smartphones that provides you and your selected caregivers with information about your location and fitness levels.
Installation Process
Unlike many of the medical alert systems we’ve reviewed, LutiBand comes with a well-written user manual. As you’ll see in the Set Up and Get Started section of the manual, LutiBand is incredibly easy to install and set up. The watch comes pre-installed with its SIM card, so you don’t have to do anything to connect it to cellular services. You only need to follow these steps.
Charge the watch’s battery and set a few things like time and date.
Download the LutiBand Mobile App from the Google Play App Store or Apple App Store and install it on your phone.
Follow the instructions in the LutiBand Mobile App section of the manual to set up your account, sign up for the subscription service, and choose a few settings.
You can get started using the watch immediately, but we urge you not to skimp on entering the information specified in the Medical ID section of the manual. This is what will be transmitted to first responders in an emergency, so you’ll want to include as much information as possible to help them.
LutiBand’s privacy policies are strong and carefully enforced, so you don’t have to worry about other people seeing your medical information.
Contract and Fees
The LutiBand Smartwatch device itself is nominally priced at $169.95, with free shipping within the United States. You can choose to pay for the watch in four interest-free payments of $42.48 each.
LutiBand watches are sold through the company’s website, but—unusually, among the many medical alert devices we’ve reviewed—also through a number of partner websites and even retail outlets such as Walmart. The watch comes with a one-year warranty, which is honored by LutiBand and its affiliates worldwide.
Monitoring services cost $22.49 per month. There are no long-term contracts required, so you can cancel the month-to-month subscription at any time. If you do, however, while you’ll be able to keep the watch, canceling the subscription will terminate the SIM, and it cannot be reactivated.
The company often offers sale prices of $99.99 for the device and the first month of subscription free.

Customer Service
LutiBand has a full customer service team who can be reached via email or by filling out an online form, which also includes a link to their general FAQ page. LutiBand does not currently list a direct phone number, and at present, customer support is available only in the US. However, the company is working on extending that to other countries where its products are sold.
Bottom Line
LutiBand offers excellent value for active seniors (or anyone else) who want a quality, reliable medical alert system for use in an emergency, but one that can also be used every day to track your fitness levels and help you stay healthy. It doesn’t require you to be close to or connected to a base station or to a mobile phone to work, and it even works internationally, if you like to travel.
Its many features have been designed from the start to be easy to use for seniors, and its appearance—an attractive, high-tech smartwatch—is a big plus to those who don’t want to wear clunky pendant-style medical alert buttons. Best of all, it’s available at a price that ranks it among the most affordable of the systems we have reviewed. All in all, we feel that LutiBand is an excellent choice as a medical alert system for seniors or anyone who is active and spends time outside the home or traveling.
