Professionally installed vs. DIY home security systems

Many companies are moving towards do-it-yourself installation, with contracts that require less of a commitment. These security systems are typically easy enough for you to set up at your house on your own and can be integrated with Alexa or similar digital home management systems and linked up with your mobile devices. What are the different types of home security systems?
